Shannon Burns (Moderator): I want you to take 30 seconds, close your eyes and think back on that first time you realized that you were a black woman.

SUPER: ...the first time you realized that you were a black woman?

Moderator: Take those crayons, and create a nice piece of artwork, an abstract piece of artwork, that describes that thought that you had in your head.

Participant: We oftentimes don't think about what it means to be a black woman. So, it was a reality check that I am a black woman, and taking you back to the experience when you first realized it. That moment of reflection is opportunity for growth.

Participant: So what you're seeing underneath, is about 15 to 16 when I realized that, hey, I'm a black woman. And that's when I started going natural.

SUPER: Black Woman

Participant: This is my mother holding my hand as a child, and reading to me different things about black people and black women and what they were doing. This is just her talking to me about being a strong black woman.

Moderator: We know who we are, right, we remember when we realized that we were black women. And we also know that there is an issue going on, bubbling, brewing interracially, right, intraracially, between the sisters. And the first thing that we need to do is learn to love self.

Participant: Instead of us looking down on each other, compliment each other.

Participant: It was just a nice class, wonderful class. Black ladies coming together, uniting, being able to talk to one another.

Moderator: Color is only skin deep. And it doesn't just happen between, you know, the sisters, but with women of other colors as well. Thank you, ladies, for participating today. Give yourselves another hand for being so beautiful.
