Peggy W.’s Poem
They Were Colored Blind
As a black woman,
I have stood the test of time
I am no longer in the dark they were the ones colored blind
I embrace my blackness all so well
You too my sisters have stories to tell
There's no stopping me now, I refuse to quit
I no longer listen to the voice that said that's it!
When I realized who I truly was deep inside
I promised myself never to fall always rise
The color of my skin does not define me
I might have been blind but now the truth I see
Deep inside I always knew
The father I serve would see me through
My heart always told me I was not wasting my time
I am no longer in the dark …they were the ones colored blind
