P&G Brings a Unique My Black is Beautiful LIVE! Experience and Model Casting Call to Houston

Black Women Are Invited to Be Pampered and Encouraged, and Become the New Face of a National Ad Campaign

Cincinnati, OH: September 9, 2010 — Procter & Gamble's My Black is Beautiful LIVE! arrives in Houston on Saturday, September 11, 2010, and will be at the Reliant Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This beauty and wellness event invites thousands of local females to enjoy complimentary services, such as:

  • Olay® facials
  • Pantene® hairstyling
  • CoverGirl® Queen Collection makeovers
  • Crest® Pro-Health® screenings
  • Always® Spoken Word Let It Flow Lounge
  • Secret® Wellness Pavilion
  • Massages
  • Full manicures

This event will feature performances from hip-hop pioneer MC Lyte and R&B/jazz singer Leela James, as well as a new and exciting component: a national model search casting call. Auditions for the model search will take place throughout the day, where eight semifinalists will be chosen to advance to the finals. The final two people chosen will be featured in a national ad campaign for the brand and will also appear in Season 3 of the My Black is Beautiful TV Show.

"Our hope is that this year's event will encourage more conversations among African-American women about perceptions and realities of black beauty within our society," said Kisha Mitchell Williams, P&G Multicultural Brand Manager. "We believe that bringing My Black is Beautiful LIVE! to Houston and conducting a model search in this wonderful city is the right move to convene and to elevate African-American women."

The My Black is Beautiful initiative is a national movement established to celebrate African-American beauty and encourage black women and girls to define and promote their own beauty standard. One of the primary goals of the brand is to inspire future generations to adopt a new mind-set for how they view themselves and uplift the way African-American women are portrayed in mainstream culture. The integrated, multi-brand initiative is supported by Crest Pro-Health, Pantene, the CoverGirl Queen Collection, Olay and Always.

About the Model Search
